Center for Researching Ba Vi Grassland and Cow, its precursor was Ba Vi State-run Plantation established since 1958, is currently managing 707households with the population number of 2568 people, divided into 5hamlets. The Center consists of 67 officers and staves, forming into 3 livestock farms. The Center now, makes management of 2 milk-cow breeding co-operative farms (Hai Hoa 1, Hai Hoa 2 at Van Hoa commune, Ba Vi sub-district), 1 small-scale processing workshop, 1 station of grassland research, 1 dispensary, 5 functional divisions for the research and production. Due to the capacity of processing workshop is too small, it would make just budgetting and initially sterilized treatment without processing and making package multiform, thus, majority of milk yield has been sold again to the other plants out of Ba Vi.

In early 2007, due to the drought lasting, the price of breeding foods highly increasing while the milk price was low, thus directly influenced the healthy care to the cow herd during the first and second quarter of 2007. Up to the third quarter/2007, thank to the world milk price had changed so the milk price in the year increased, therefore, affected for the more beneficial to the milk-cow breeder. Also, during 6 end months, the cow herd of the Center in particularly and whole the officers’ and staves’ as well as farmers’ at the Center in generally has distinctly increased both the quantity and milk yield.

In 2006: The cow herd gaining the first level upwards was 69.8%;

In 2007: The cow herd gaining the first level upwards was 85.7%.

The year of 2007 rather increased in comparison with of 2006 by 15.9% of the cow herd gaining first level upwards.

The milk yield in 2007 increased in comparison with of 2006 by: …….% .

The Center has also keeping the original breed herd with about 300 and 98% gaining the first level upwards.

The disease prevention work for the milk-cow herd: making the inoculation against an epidemic for 100% of milk-cow herd of the entire Center with the vaccines of pasteurellose, foot-and-mouth disease, anaplasmosis in cattle.

The Center has step by step arranged again the structure for the more streamlined office according to the Project 115.

The Center has established, successfully defended the Project 115 converting the Center into operating by the self-controlled regime, self-paid expenditure according to the regulation of Decree No.115/2005/ND-CP on Sep. 5th, 2005 by the Government.

The Ministry has the approval Decision No.3069/QD-BNN-TCCB on Oct. 5th, 2007.
